Everyone is familiar with "that guy." He's the one who's semi-bald, kind of pudgy, and can't put a decent outfit together to save his life. For some reason, however, women flock to him, and you can't help but wonder why.

The reason he's so attractive to the opposite sex is simple...he's an alpha male. You may have heard this term used loosely before, but have no idea what it means. In short, alpha males display superior confidence from the inside out. They firmly believe in their self worth, and as a result, they are irresistible to women.

For most men, witnessing the spectacle of "that guy" can be nothing short of annoying. They wonder what he's got that they don't, and their irritability increases as more women gather around him. This is understandably frustrating, but I want to ask you to reconsider your viewpoint.

If anything, this character is living proof that any man (regardless of fame or fortune) can be a magnet to women, provided that he has the tools to do so. Continue reading to learn five tips aimed at bringing out your inner alpha male. A little confidence powered by the correct body language can take you a long way in the dating game.

What is an alpha male? It originally comes from the social situations in animals. Being one takes authority and is a leader in the community. They are looked upon as of higher status and has gained the respect of the other males. They do everything first from eating to mating and everyone knows their roles.

Tip #1 - Don't Be a Beta Male

In the animal kingdom, the alpha male is the leader of the pack, and the betas act as his subordinates. With that said, the first step toward becoming an alpha is to ditch your beta traits. You may come off as inferior if:

-You stick your hands in your pockets.

-You fidget.

-You slouch.

-You cross your arms.

-You look or act nervous.

-You don't own your space.

These behaviors indicate low status and lacking confidence, so make a conscious effort to recognize and correct them. The first step toward becoming an alpha male is to act the part.

Tip #2 - Have Confidence

There is nothing sexier than confidence, and true alpha males know this. You could be broke while living at home with your mother, but if you know your value, women will be attracted to you.

The first step toward true self confidence is to identify your weak and strong points. Get to the source of your lacking self esteem by looking within yourself, and figure out what inhibits you. On that same note, acknowledge your accomplishments and talents, and remind yourself of them daily.

Once you've assessed your personal feelings, it's time to work on your body language. By their very nature, alpha males are calm and relaxed, so whenever you're in a social situation, envision yourself like this, and live it.

Have you noticed how insecure guys are these days?

This is because they are constantly seeking validation for their self-image from others. They are basing their internal views on how others think and react to them. This puts a man on his own emotional roller coaster and leads to a life of instability.

Women want a 'rock'. They want a man they can depend on emotionally. If you are always seeking validation from others, how can you expect any woman to depend on you - especially if you can't depend on yourself?

An alpha male is intrinsically centered. Rather than judging his self-worth based on what others think about him, he bases it solely on what HE thinks about himself. When a man becomes intrinsically centered, he stops looking for validation from others and can operate in social situations effortlessly. In other words, he becomes the 'rock' which women desire.

Tip #3 - Have Fun

When interacting with women, beta males are nervous and fidgety. They stress over what she's thinking, doing, and saying, and as a result, they turn her off.

Alpha males, on the other hand, are the complete opposite. Rather than worry about the outcome of a date, they relax and enjoy the ride. As a result, they come off as calm and collected, which is a complete turn on to females.

Being a true alpha male is much more than acting...it's being. A man who is sincerely confident in himself does not need a woman's approval of him, and in his mind, she needs his approval. Our feelings inside will always be reflected on the outside, so placing too much importance on what a woman thinks will only hurt your chances.

#4 - Adopt the Body of an Alpha Male

To differentiate between the body language of a beta male, here are some common displays of an alpha. The foundation for the following is a cool and collected state-of-mind:

-You display direct eye contact.

-You never look around the room.

-You own your space by leaning back and looking comfortable.

-You breathe by using your stomach, not your chest.

Try these behaviors the next time you're in public, and see how people respond. The results should amaze you.

Your body should convey a relaxed vibe - the speed at which you move and talk, the way you react to situations and your tone of voice can all be used to your advantage. Take a more chilled out approach to everything, your movements should be relatively slow and controlled, your muscles should be relaxed also.

Examples of bad body language include: fidgeting of the hands - either with an object or just with your own fingers; raising of your shoulder also convey a non relaxed person, keep your shoulders back as if a bucket of cold water has just been poured down your back; wrinkling of your forehead is another example of bad body language, it conveys a tense or even aggressive face, keep your facial muscles relaxed.

#5 - Live at Your Leisure

Beta males are eager to please, and as such, they're at the beck and call of those around them. Alpha males, on the other hand, don't feel the need to impress others, and they move at their own leisure.

This does not mean that alpha males aren't helpful guys, but instead of jumping to every request, they move at their own speed. They run their own lives, and do not let the schedules of other people depict their actions. As a result, they command respect naturally.

There is only one secret to attracting the opposite sex, and that is to become an alpha male. Know your value as a person, and command your due respect through powerful body language and confidence. A man doesn't need fame or fortune to have an amazing sex life; he just needs to know that he's worth it.

An alpha male builds a life for himself out of his desires and passions. He sets loft goals for himself and works endlessly to achieve them. An alpha male has risen above the social conditioning and is carving out his own path in life.
