Your MUST HAVE’S and CAN’T STAND List

You are suddenly a master computer programmer and able to create a droid, man-lover with all the key qualities you’ve dreamt of, and then we're going to narrow it down to the top ten. Consider this: what is it that inspires your passion the most; gets your heart racing and periodically captivates your total attention? Perhaps an interest – like fly-fishing. When two people have a key interest in common, neither has to call the other a fanatic and everybody’s happier. We don’t have to share ALL interests, but a common passion is key to hot romance that will survive the test of time.

Why only ten? To keep your pool wide enough. If you make a list of 50 must have’s and stick to them, let’s hope you’re confident in your singleness because you’re going to remain there. Pursuit of perfection is a wicked way to go. But these ten… from these ten you will not waiver! Some examples of a must-have/deal-breaker list:

Honesty - must be able to trust him. If he lies about the small stuff he will most likely lie about the big stuff. If he lied to anyone to be in relationship with me – he will most certainly lie during our relationship.
Sense of humor – he needs to be able to “get me” and I get him, and we share inside jokes.
Chemistry – we are drawn to each other like magnets and neither wants to break loose. Physical, natural-not-forced, attraction.
Must be a non-smoker! No oral tobacco either. :-P
Must believe in God and follow Jesus.
Good work ethic – financially responsible and professionally dependable.
Similar interest in the areas of outdoors, music, and the carpe diem factor…
Willing communicator – enjoys intimacy at a deeper level than just sex drive. He’s capable of having reasonable discussions and disagreements. He can agree to disagree
He must want a similar future: no babies, retire and travel – patio home and a passport or something along those lines.
Must cherish me. I know what that feels like but paper can’t hold on to it.

You get the idea. You can come up with ten hard and fast entries and vow to keep the list golden. Do not marry unless he has or doesn’t have these qualities, period. This is a divorce repellent.

Now – go forth single sister, and make your list. Hold on to it – stick by it. Do not betray it. A forever relationship is in your sights!
